A calm, dog-free waiting space with Feliway diffuser running. Raised surfaces so cats can be elevated and feel more secure. No dog smells, no dog noise — cats come in and go straight here.

Cat consulting room

A dedicated cat-only consulting room — never used for dogs. Feliway diffuser, appropriate lighting, non-slip surfaces. Cats come out of their carrier in their own time and explore before the examination begins.

Cat ward

Cats admitted for procedures or hospitalisation stay in our dedicated cat ward — far away from the noise and smells of the dog ward. Calm and quiet, with Feliway and soft-close kennel doors for privacy and security.

Cat isolation ward

A dedicated cat isolation ward — separate from the dog isolation ward — for cats requiring intensive care or those who may be infectious. Equipped with an oxygen kennel for cats in respiratory distress.

ISFM Gold — the highest standard

The International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) Cat Friendly Clinic programme assesses veterinary practices against a rigorous set of standards for feline care. Gold is the highest level — awarded to practices that go beyond basic cat-friendly measures and demonstrate genuine, embedded commitment to feline wellbeing throughout their environment and clinical approach.

Being assessed and awarded Gold is not a one-time badge. It requires ongoing commitment and is reviewed regularly.

Beyond routine care

Advanced care — available for cats too

Many owners don't realise that cats can benefit from the same advanced treatments as dogs. At TWC, these services are all available for feline patients.

Western veterinary acupuncture

Cats respond particularly well to western veterinary acupuncture — often better than dogs. It is especially effective for chronic pain management, musculoskeletal conditions and as part of an integrated plan where medication alone is insufficient or not well tolerated. Many cats visibly relax during treatment, and some fall asleep. Sessions are calm, quiet and adapted to what each cat will tolerate.

Western veterinary acupuncture

Physiotherapy & hydrotherapy

Cat physiotherapy addresses pain, stiffness and reduced mobility from arthritis, neurological conditions, post-operative recovery and injury. Some cats also benefit from water treadmill hydrotherapy, rebuilding strength and range of motion without loading painful joints. All sessions are scheduled so cats and dogs are never in the space at the same time.

Western veterinary herbal medicine

Herbs prescribed by Miriam for cats — particularly useful for anxiety, immune support, chronic disease management, and cats that don't tolerate long-term pharmaceuticals well.

Stem cell therapy

Available for cats with osteoarthritis, joint conditions, IBD or feline stomatitis. The same procedure as for dogs — fat harvest, culture at the Veterinary Tissue Bank, implantation — adapted for feline patients.

Scheduled with your cat in mind

All advanced treatment sessions for cats are scheduled so that your cat and any dogs are never in the same space at the same time. If your cat is particularly anxious, let us know when booking and we will plan accordingly.

Making the journey easier

Travel tips for your cat

The journey to the vet is often the most stressful part for a cat. These steps make a real difference.

Feliway in the carrier

Spray the inside of the carrier with Feliway at least 30 minutes before travel. Allow it to dry before putting your cat in. This synthetic pheromone significantly reduces travel anxiety.

A familiar-smelling blanket

Place a blanket or item of clothing that smells of home inside the carrier. Familiar scent is one of the most effective and simplest tools for keeping cats calm during travel.

Leave the carrier out at home

Cats that only see their carrier on vet day associate it with stress. Leave it out permanently with bedding inside — cats that sleep in their carrier travel far more calmly.

Cover the carrier in the car

A light blanket over the carrier reduces visual stimulation during the journey. Cats feel safer when they cannot see movement around them.

Keep it quiet

Drive smoothly. Keep the radio low. Talk calmly if your cat responds positively — or leave them in silence if they seem calmer without interaction.

Allow extra time

A stressed arrival makes everything harder. Leave plenty of time so you arrive relaxed. When you arrive, let us know — we will take you straight through to the cat area.
