In-house diagnostics
Broad diagnostic capability,
on site.
Digital X-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography and a full in-house laboratory at Newcraighall. Where referral for specialist imaging such as CT or MRI is needed, we will tell you — and help arrange it.
Our approach
The right diagnostic tool, used well.
Good diagnostics are not just about having the equipment — they depend on the skill of the people using and interpreting it. Our vets and nurses are experienced in obtaining and reading diagnostic images and results, and in knowing when a case needs something we cannot provide on site.
Imaging
Digital X-ray & ultrasound
High-resolution imaging available immediately — no film, no waiting, no referral to a separate facility for routine cases.
Digital radiography
Instant high-resolution X-ray for orthopaedic, chest and abdominal assessment. Results are available immediately and can be shared with specialists or referred practices digitally.
Abdominal ultrasound
Soft tissue and organ assessment without the need for referral. Useful for investigating abdominal pain, organ changes, bladder assessment and more.
Echocardiography
Cardiac ultrasound performed in-house. Assessment of heart structure, function and valve disease — essential for patients with suspected heart conditions or those requiring anaesthesia risk assessment.
Dental X-ray
Full-mouth digital dental radiography in our dedicated dental procedure room. Many teeth that look intact on the surface have significant pathology below the gumline — dental X-ray finds it.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound
Soft tissue imaging of tendons, muscles and joints — particularly useful for assessing soft tissue injuries, tendon damage and guiding treatment decisions in rehabilitation cases.
Laboratory
In-house laboratory
Full blood analysis, urinalysis, cytology and faecal assessment on site. Results are available quickly for in-house samples, avoiding delays for routine investigations.
Haematology & biochemistry
Full blood count and biochemistry panel assessing organ function, red and white cell counts, electrolytes and more. Typically results within the hour for in-house samples.
Urinalysis & cytology
Urine analysis for kidney function, infection, diabetes and more. Cytology for skin masses, ear infections and fluid samples — giving us a fast answer without sending samples to an external lab.
Faecal worm egg counts
Analysed using our Imagyst digital microscope — a more accurate and faster method than traditional counting. Used to guide targeted parasite treatment rather than blanket worming.
