Do you offer dog hydrotherapy in Edinburgh?
Yes. Our water treadmill provides warm-water hydrotherapy at our Newcraighall practice, serving Edinburgh, East Lothian & Midlothian. The water level is adjustable to control joint loading and buoyancy, so it suits post-surgical recovery, arthritis, neurological conditions, strength and conditioning, and fitness in older or overweight pets.
What is Strideway gait analysis?
Strideway is a pressure-sensitive walkway that captures how your pet distributes weight across all four limbs as they walk over it. It produces objective data — which limbs are being loaded or avoided, and how symmetrically your pet moves — which is invaluable both for diagnosis and for tracking progress through treatment.
Do I need a referral for hydrotherapy or physiotherapy?
Our own patients are seen after an internal referral from our vet team, which we arrange for you. If your pet is registered with another practice, we welcome referrals — ask your vet to refer you, or call us on 0131 516 2499 to discuss.
Can other veterinary practices refer patients to you?
Yes — we welcome referrals from veterinary practices across Edinburgh, East Lothian & Midlothian for rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and gait analysis. Your client remains in your care and we keep you informed at every stage.
Are your physiotherapists qualified?
Yes. All physiotherapy at The Veterinary Wellness Centre is carried out by formally qualified animal physiotherapists — manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, electrotherapy and tailored home exercise programmes.
Do you rehabilitate cats, or only dogs?
Both. We rehabilitate cats as well as dogs, assessing and treating feline patients individually with approaches adapted to their temperament and physiology.
How much does hydrotherapy cost?
An initial hydrotherapy assessment is £115 (£92 for Pet Wellness Plan members) and follow-up sessions are £95 (£76 for members). Strideway gait analysis is £75 (£60 for members). All our prices are fixed and published.
